Part 1: The Departure (continued)

Driving fast occasionally is actually not a bad idea at all. Hehe!

Ka Heng has already left Cambodia for 7 days. Meanwhile, I am still waiting for the result. The spider almost makes her nest on my body!

Sigh! When will it come out?!

Like every morning, when I wake up, immediately my mind is filled up with the word “scholarship to Japan”. Now I just have to wait for the result, so I do not think of it too often. But back when I have not taken the exam, every day and night, I have always been endlessly thinking of this word and imagining how excited I am after knowing that I pass. This imagination is the strength for me to keep on regardless how exhausted I am.

However, sometimes I worry that this motivation will become (or has already became) a stone in my heart without I realizing it…

Whatever! I do not care if it is a pressure or not! If it can lead me to my success, I am willing to take it!

“One cup of milk coffee, please.”

I speak to a male staff in CJCC café.

“Okay.”

As the staff begins to make the coffee, my soul also begin to fly pass the counter and bury itself into the coffee grain.

Hah! Such a scent from heaven!

Taking the coffee from the staff, I walk toward to the seat.

“Nature Café” is the real name of this shop, but because it is located in CJCC (Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center), I just call it as CJCC Café.

This café is unique from the other coffee shops that I know. It is an outdoor coffee shop with a big tree in the middle of the space for seats. There are also some seats just below that trees, which provides a massive natural umbrella. Moreover, there is a rectangle passage surrounding the café  decorated with some green plants filled in the flower pots. There are some more seats along the passage, too. At one angle of the passage, there is the café counter where not only coffee, but also meat bun, Cambodian food, and Japanese food can be ordered.

As always, I go pass the seats below the tree and straight forward to a seat in the passage. Sitting under the tree is really refresh in the morning. But in the afternoon… sitting along the passage under the ceiling is much better. Sorry Mother Nature…

CJCC café is just like my second home. Whenever there is no class, I always come here and drink coffee while studying or reading the manga. Since I became an undergraduate, I have not made any new friend (just new classmates), so I rarely hang out with other people. However, it is not a bad thing. I love being alone, especially when having a nice cup of coffee in this place.

Gulp, gulp!

Aaaaah!

CJCC coffee is the best!

Before I knew CJCC, I was really stressful! Stress from studying! Stress from daily life! Stress from having to deal with friends (the old ones)! Especially, stress from dealing with myself!

Not only that, but I was also bored of this life where only the same things… the same annoying things happen again and again and again!

However, after I discovered CJCC, I fell in love with its atmosphere and its coffee, and my mental health became better.

But of course, only CJCC is not enough to change my life for the better.

As long as I am here, my life will be stuck forever!

Ring! Ring!

After reading manga for about 2 hours, my body finally moves up because of the phone ringtone.

Whose is this phone number?

“Hello!”

“Hello! Are you Vongs Sela?”

“Errr… Yes! And… you…?

“Wait! You don’t know me?! I’m Kosal, the manager of group A02, which is your group!”

“Oh! I’m so sorry! I didn’t know…”

“Sela! You’re the only woman that can go to Japan! Amazing! This is the first time that our university has a female student to get the scholarship to study in Japan!”

“Sorry?!!!”

“The result has just come out! You have passed the scholarship to study medicine in Japan! Only you! The only woman to go abroad this time! Amazing!”

Crack!

I stand up immediately.

Eh! Is it true? Is he kidding?

Impossible, impossible! It can’t be! Out of the blue like this? On the phone like this? Is he lying to me?!

Mr. Kosal keeps on talking, not noticing my reaction.

“Since the result has just come out, please don’t spread it yet! I just want to tell you because I’m too excited to keep it alone! The official result is gonna be released this evening!”

“Err… Yes…”

“You’re so amazing, Sela! I’m so proud of you! Now take care! Goodbye!”

“Y…Yes! Thank you very much! Goodbye!”

I put my phone on the table and sit down.

My eyes stay still, but the image in front of me is not reflected in my brain at all. My ears now can only hear Mr. Kosal’s words.

I passed the exam!

Is he speaking the truth? Or is he just kidding with me?

Based on his voice, he is really Mr. Kosal, the manager of group A02 in the university of medicine where I am studying. So the person on the phone should not be a scammer.

But… is it true… that I passed?

Both of excitement and worry run into my body. It is so hot! My chest and stomach are melting right now!

I am excited! If this information is real, I finally can travel to the country in my dream and get in touch with Japanese culture! Plus, I can study without paying! Who would not be happy?

But I am also worried! The result can be a fake one or a mistake.

Why on the phone? Why cannot be spread to other people?

There is a high possibility that it is fake!

But Mr. Kosal does not have any benefit from lying to me.

But he might make a mistake, for example, the dust just came into his eyes, making him to see another person’s name as my name or something…

Moreover, as long as it is not an official result, which is shared on the university’s page on Facebook, it can still be changed.

I must not recklessly let my excitement out now, or I will be disappointed afterward.

Now that I think about it, why didn’t Mr. Kosal wait and just share the information when the official one comes out? That way, I can jump in a full happiness! Not like this!

Why?!!!
